Who wants to run in Kota Kinabalu?
For starters, I do! Having run the Borneo International Marathon in 2013 and 2014, its a no-brainer that I will again run it in 2015. When the inaugural Kuching Marathon was run, many from Sabah came to run the FM. We in Kuching will come in droves to return the favour. We will yet again face the hills of UMS and that 29.5km timing mat out way beyond 1Borneo. We will burn yet again under the blazing sun. Why? Because we love the challenge. What's more we just love visiting Kota Kinabalu. There's just so much to do and see there. This has always been a runcation run for me. We in Borneo just like to run, as proven by the number of participants for both our marathons. What's more Brunei has come up with their very own marathon. It suddenly popped up out of the blue and clashes with Penang Bridge International Marathon. I don't know about runners from Brunei, but we here in Malaysia need time to prepare for a full marathon. So hopefully next year they will warn us months in advance. Take BIM as an example. They have given us a year to prepare for this.
Those who know what they need to do can click here and register. For me this is a cannot miss run on my calendar. Truth be told I prefer the smaller runs as nowadays many of the runs are going for a record number of participants. Having more runners doesn't mean the marathon is better than the next. It just means that the runner has to run with more runners on the road. Of course like any run it is all up to the participant. Now in Borneo there are three full fledged marathons to choose from and a number of half marathons. That means those who never traveled out of Borneo to run can still get their wish and save lots of ringgit in the process. One day when the Trans Borneo Highway is finally completed we can just drive to the run venues. Am so hoping that Kalimantan will have a full marathon too. Imagine running four full marathons on one island but in 3 countries. That would be something else. Am so looking forward to when that day will happen. For now lets just run long in Kota Kinabalu on 3rd May 2015!
Hello Mr Yahya :D Nice to see you during TRJM; the hills for BIM should be at UMS (Universiti Malaysia Sabah). USM is over at Penang boss hahaha ...
