CJC Full Moon Run

Gearing up for CJC Charity Run

Every Thursday night the City Jogger's Club in Kuching organises a night run. The training runs usually start at 7pm in front of the MBKS building. There is a short route (usually around 5km) and a long route (usually around 10km). Runners choose which routes they want to run and follow the group. CJC members on foot and on bicycles will help insure the safety of the runners as best they can. However it is recommended that runners wear bright coloured running attire and also blinker lights. These are sold at very cheap prices at the starting point. Runners who want to join the event must report in and pay a fee of RM2. This entitles the runner to bananas, water, cordials, desserts, or whatever is available at the start/finish point. Runners must also sign out when they arrive back. This is to make sure all runners are accounted for.  To become a member of CJC runners must participate in 5 night runs.

Yours truly has taken part in two night runs. However due to injury I have been sidelined for a week. Suffice to say I have watched firsthand how this event is run and managed and I give it two thumbs up. The CJC committee members go all out to make sure the runners have a fun time. More information about the run routes can be found on their Facebook page. It's runs such as these that prepare runners for more challenges in the future. Even the Momentum Run Series 4 (25km) route has been run during the CJC night run. Of course that was only one loop of 12.5km. What's more the CJC Charity Run will be held at 9pm 0n 12th July 2014. The route is 5km long and it is this route that will be run during this Thursday's "Full Moon Run". There will not be a long route and the event will start at 7.30pm. CJC announced that the previous night run (on 3rd July 2014) attracted 170 participants, which is a new record. For the "Full Moon Run" they are expecting even more runners.
